Marqués de Cáceres / Innovation and Sustainability

A land that gives us everything

committed to the future

At Bodegas Marqués de Cáceres, sustainability and innovation are more than basic principles: they are commitments. Our connection with the land goes beyond merely cultivating it. We make every effort to protect it, respecting each vineyard as the legacy that defines our history and safeguards our future.

Every decision is taken with the certainty that the future depends on the actions we put into practice today. That is why we implement measures that reflect our commitment to a more sustainable, innovative and responsible tomorrow.

Manual harvest tradition and local employment

Manual harvesting is not only a tradition at Marqués de Cáceres, it is our way of supporting rural communities. In carrying out the harvest by hand every year we help to create local employment and allow families in the region to retain their connection to their land. This technique also ensures that each grape is treated with the utmost care, preserving the quality that characterises our wines.

Self-sufficiency responsible efficiency

Water sustainability is fundamental to us. As a result, we have set up a rainwater collection and storage system to ensure that our vineyards have access to this essential resource without having to rely on external sources. These measures have enabled us to reduce our water footprint by 37% over the past five years.

Respect for the environment also goes hand in hand with the use of clean energy, which is why we use solar panels to generate part of the energy consumed by the winery, reducing emissions and improving efficiency

Eficiencia responsable

Sustainable design every detail counts

At Marqués de Cáceres, we are aware that sustainability begins with every decision. For this reason, we use recycled and reused materials in the production process to ensure that our impact on the planet is as minimal as possible. Our commitment includes optimising the design of the bottles we use, a decision that has saved almost 3 tons of glass over the past four years.

At the same time, we make the most of natural light in our facilities, a move that serves to significantly reduce energy consumption and improve our efficiency.

Preserving the terroir from the roots

In our vineyards, respect for the terroir defines our work. Our practice is that of minimal intervention, allowing the grapes to grow in their natural habitat, respecting the biodiversity of the environment and favouring soil health. We use organic fertilisers that regenerate and nourish the soil in the long term and we apply environmentally friendly phytosanitary treatments that enable us to maintain the authenticity of our wines and safeguard their quality year after year

Vine-growing legacy resistance and biodiversity

We are committed to the recovery of old vineyards, with which we continue to cultivate vines that are up to 120 years old. We rescue native varieties, some of which are almost extinct, that are naturally more resistant to new climatic conditions. With these techniques we continue to produce unique wines, such as our organic red wine, and preserve the viticultural biodiversity of the region, backed by our vegan certification.

Plant roofing protecting our soils

On our sloping parcels of land, we allow spontaneous plant-based roofing to grow, protecting the soil from erosion. This natural technique boosts biodiversity and preserves native flora, while maintaining the balance in the environment.

Ágora Space a place to feel the essence of the terroir

A former agricultural pavilion transformed into a space for contemplation and enjoyment of the vineyard. Much more than a place, it serves as a tribute to the land and our way of caring for it with the future in mind. Here, tradition and innovation coexist in a state of balance, reflecting our commitment to the environment and the legacy of winemaking.
